Mahi Bajaj Sagar Dam Rehabilitation and Nuclear Power Project Displacement

The project involves the rehabilitation of over 1,700 families displaced by the Mahi Bajaj Sagar Dam construction between 1970 and 1985, who are now facing a second displacement due to a proposed nuclear power project near Napla village in Mahi Banswara. The state government is set to decide on the rehabilitation framework, with affected families demanding land-for-land compensation instead of cash. The nuclear power project is being developed by Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited and is progressing with initial works. A separate committee is also reviewing development plans for the dam area including tourism and water sports.
