Description
Description | Cal Water started an important water infrastructure upgrade in Palomar Park today as part of its commitment to keeping critical infrastructure safe and reliable. The water main replacement project will ensure customers and firefighters continue to have the water they need for their everyday and emergency needs. The project, which is expected to be completed by January, includes the installation of 2,000 feet of new 8-inch ductile iron on Palomar Drive, from Hermosa Road to South Palomar Drive. Crews will also install two new fire hydrants and replace existing fire hydrants to improve access for firefighters. This project is the latest in recent, systematic upgrades for the area. Since acquiring the Palomar Park water system in 1995, Cal Water has replaced approximately 6,000 feet of main, 80 services, and 12 fire hydrants. Crews will make every effort to minimize traffic delays during construction, which will mainly be performed Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Crews will also minimize any temporary service interruptions required, so that residents have the water they need during this time. Following installation, crews will conduct water quality testing before connecting existing individual customer service lines to the new water main. Crews will also restore all streets, sod, and landscaping impacted by the construction. "We remain committed to ensuring that a reliable supply of safe, high-quality water remains accessible to Palomar Park residents and businesses for their drinking, cooking, handwashing, and other household needs, both now and for years to come," said District Manager Ross Moilan. "We will continue to invest in our local water system so that our customers and firefighters have access to water, when they need it." |
