Description

Description

This project entails the major repairs to the Town of Shelburne’s Composite Elevated Water Storage Tank, including the much-needed internal lining replacement. A 2015 assessment found that the Storage tank lining is in poor condition with evidence of ice damage on the walls and large areas of damage on the tubes and overflow pipe. There is also considerable sediment buildup and corrosion on the weld seams. The Town’s existing water storage tank has a water storage capacity of 3,410m3, as required to meet the Ministry of Environment’s recommended storage requirement to provide additional supply during periods of peak demand and for fire flows. Given that this is Town’s only water storage infrastructure, providing both emergency and fire protection to the Town’s 6,500+ residents, it is paramount that these upgrades and repairs are completed to avoid a health and safety crisis.
