It is part of the railway network on Sulawesi Island, connecting Makassar in the south to Parepare in the north. Sponsors of the project are Indonesian state-owned Pembangunan Perumahan (45% ownership), Bumi Karsa (22.5%), China Communications Construction Engineering Indonesia, a subsidiary of CCCC (22.5%) and Iroda Mitra – 10% . They provide an equity amount of $ 20.84 million.
