Making the Future will see a consortium of leading cultural organisations – Nerve Centre, NMNI, PRONI and Linen Hall Library – deliver a regional change programme of cultural engagement, creativity and skills development. 5,000+ direct participants will interrogate and re-imagine consortium collections through the creative arts and digital technologies. Results will be viewed by 100,000+ people who will participate in exhibitions, events and workshops. Project will bring participants together in consortium spaces, community centres across NI, and museums, venues, libraries and community cinemas in border counties north and south. Outputs include: 5122 participants from different communities involved in meaningful, purposeful and sustained contact. 713 cross-community creative sessions- 2492 creative responses, including art, music, films, FabLab making, traditional crafts. 719 OCN accreditations. 104,700 audiences. 10 learning resources. 4 exhibitions. 4 travelling exhibitions @ 16 border venues. 122 events. 100 Shared Stories by victims and survivors. 20 films by ethnic minority communities. Oral archive. Outputs aligned with Output Indicator 4.2: ‘A regional level project’ implemented across NI and border counties ROI. Results include: Participants will engage with multiple narratives around history of NI / ROI, legacy of conflict and implications today, improving relations between Protestants and Catholics. Having engaged in collaborative tasks with people from diverse backgrounds, participants will be more accepting of people from different backgrounds. Participants will develop creative skills while engaging with issues around the past and recent societal changes. Minority ethnic communities will tell their stories through film, increasing the number of people with knowledge of their culture. Participants will be more likely to respect and value cultural diversity and reject prejudice, hate and intolerance.
