The project involves the reconstruction of Makola Annex 2 and Kwasiadwaso markets in Accra to a standard that will make them attractive shopping centers. This will require that the markets will have adequate space for vehicular access, providing parking space for the users with vehicles, accommodating more traders in the market, improving fire prevention and firefighting systems in the marketsThe proposed reconstructed markets will accommodate around 1,600 traders with provision of access roads, basement parking, underground storage area, offices, banks, a nursery, emergency fire exits, fire truck access and fire extinguishers at vantage points.
