Malawi - Telecommunications II project

Telecommunications II Project is in line with the Malawi Government’s medium term adjustment and growth strategy as published in its “Statement of Development Policies 1987-1996”. The project is expected to complement the benefits from the Telecommunications I project. It aims at institutional strengthening and modernization and expansion of the telecommunications facilities in and the adjacent areas of the Capital City Lilongwe and the municipality of Zomba and some other areas. The project comprises the provision and installation of digital exchanges in Lilongwe and Zomba areas, interface equipment at Blantyre and Mzuzu to link with Lilongwe and Zomba, exchange interconnecting transmission equipment in Lilongwe and Zomba, as well as buildings and associated equipment. External and subscriber plant are also provided for both Lilongwe and Zomba. In addition, vehicles, equipment as well as consultancy services will also provide as part of the project.
