Description
Description | The development objectives of Development Policy Financing with a Catastrophe Deferred Drawdown Option and Pandemic Emergency Financing Facility Project for Maldives is to enhance the Maldives financial capacity to effectively manage the human, physical and fiscal impact of climate change, natural disasters and disease outbreaks. This operation responds to the country’s need to enhance its financial capacity to address the economic impact of adverse natural events including health-related shocks by providing: (i) immediate liquidity in the aftermath of natural disasters, including public health emergencies, development policy financing (DPF) catastrophe deferred drawdown option (Cat DDO), and (ii) access to resources from the pandemic emergency financing facility (PEF) for surge response to address escalating disease outbreaks, before they reach pandemic proportions. The Cat DDO and PEF complement each other and will support the government of Maldives (GoM’s) efforts to address climate and disaster risk. |
