Malindi Tourism Port PPP project in Zanzibar

The project includes the development of a new commercial and industrial port including the necessary basic infrastructures at Mangapwani suburb in Zanzibar. The Malindi Tourism port will be located at a distance of 25 km from the existing Mangapwani harbor. The project involves the construction of a berth for the shipping, handling and storage of cargo, fish processing, storage and exporting facilities. The scope of works also includes rehabilitation, development and operation of waterfront and transfer commercial activities from the current port to the new Manga Pwani port.In first phase over an area of 3 million square meters will be under implementation while the second phase covers an area of 1.5 million square meters. Once complete, the port will have capacity to handle 10 million tons annually.
