Description

Description

"The project aims to reward those destinations which have developed a specific tourism offer based on their specific local gastronomy. The project aims to ultimately choose one destination of excellence and four runner-up destinations. The winning destination shall be awarded as the ""EDEN Destination for Tourism and Local Gastronomy.""The project will focus mainly on the potential of the destination, the authenticity of the product linking it to local heritage as well as the sustainability of the event. Objectives: - to promote the sustainability factor of destinations; - to share good practices with other EU countries; - to create awareness of Europe's tourist diversity and quality; - to further enhance the importance and potential of local gastronomy vis-a-vis tourism; - to give recognition to and facilitate networking activities between destinations; - to establish a set of specific award criteria that are coherent, logical and clear which will take into account the general aim of the preparatory action and will be consistent with the general award criteria; - to promote the EDEN project locally, ensuring that it reaches all potential candidate destinations; - to act as a help desk for potential entrants who would require clarifications or guidance; and - to organise a National Awards Ceremony, which will highlight the gastronomy of the winning destinations and the runners up, so asto raise visibility of the project and destinations. The above mentioned objectives will be achieved through different proposed activities identified in the Work Packages. The relevance of these objectives tie well with the COSME objectives, particularly through the following: - increasing tourism flows in the low season; - diversifying the EU tourism offer and products; - enhance tourism quality, sustainability, accessibility, skills, information and innovation; - increase Europe's visibility as tourist destination. The Specific Award Criteria aim to ensure the above. "
