Description
Description | The module Management Plan and Rehabilitation of the Laaroussia Canal within the framework of IWRM loans includes the rehabilitation of the dilapidated and at-risk-of-collapse El Battan pumping station, which supplies the Borj el Amri perimeter with irrigation water. The investment measure also includes the modernization of the associated infrastructure such as pressure pipes and reservoirs. The pumping station to be rehabilitated is an integral part of the irrigation infrastructure in the Medjerda Valley and part of the thematic project Management Plan Laaroussia within the framework of IWRM, which also provides for the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Laaroussia Canal and the modernization of outdated, gravity-based irrigation perimeters on an area of approx. 30,000 ha in the lower Medjerda Valley. The aim of the thematic project is to improve the current operation of the irrigation infrastructure through integrated use in such a way that efficiency increases are achieved combined with savings in surface and groundwater resources. |
