Description
Description | The Manchester Roundhouse, built in 1916 by the Lehigh Valley Railroad and the fourth-largest roundhouse in the U.S., is currently abandoned, contaminated, and in tax delinquency. The Village of Manchester, Ontario County, the Town and Village of Manchester, and the Finger Lakes Railway have been working on the property for over a decade. The site requires an owner before redevelopment can proceed, with potential plans to repurpose the building into a library, community center, or child care facility. Economic development grants are available in New York state for historic preservation and restoration once an owner is found. |
