Description | The Manitoba government, in partnership with the Aboriginal Health and Wellness Centre, initially proposed a supervised drug consumption site at 200 Disraeli Freeway in Winnipeg. Due to opposition from local residents concerned about proximity to schools and child-care centers, the government decided to find a new location for the site. The project aims to provide a supervised space for drug injection with staff to respond to overdoses and guide people toward treatment, without supplying drugs. The site is planned to open after further public consultation, before the provincial election in October 2027. |
