Description

Description

"MANNY FILMS, founded in 2007 by Philippe Gompel, focuses its development activity on the discovery of young authors, with whom we are keen to forge strong and fruitful relationships, in order to support them in their ambitions. We invest a lot of time in the development of first and second feature films. The Manny Film team is composed by Birgit Kemner, in charge of international coproduction and Christine Gicquel responsible for development and the project management. The five projects we present in this Development Slate clearly demonstrate our ambition to grow as well as to diversify our activities. ""HLM PUSSY"" the first feature film by Nora El Hourch (selected at Cannes 2015 with her short film ""Some Seconds""), presented at Berlinale's European Film Market, and which features three teenage girls in search of self-assertion against a background of double culture, with a tone mixing comedy and tragedy. ""DESTINATION ROSE BONBON"" by Marina Ziolkowski (selected for the César for Best Short Film 2021 with ""19"" produced by Manny Films). This first feature film, selected in the 2021 Annual Selection of Groupe Ouest, is a funny and moving road movie about two women who opposes everything, and who seek to take back the reins of a life diminished by illness. ""LASCARS LA NINA"", which extends the universe of the animated film LASCARS (Selected at the Critics' Week in 2009) by adapting it into live action, by Ismael Sy Savane (IZM), historical author of the saga, and of which this will be the first time behind the camera as a director. ""JUNIOR"" a series, which will be the French adaptation of our mini-series created by Zoe Cassavetes (nominated for the Gotham Awards New York 2017), and which we are developing with Anne Berest (creator of the MYTHO series for Arte). Finally, Marina Ziolkowski's third short film ""EXTRA LARGE"", supported by the CNC, Canal + and the Réunion Region, an offbeat comedy that parodies the codes of the fairy tale on the theme of grossophobia."
