Description | The Manono lithium project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is one of the world's largest undeveloped hard rock lithium deposits. It is expected to become a key source of raw materials for electric vehicle batteries and other clean energy technologies. The project includes a processing plant that began production in May 2026, with downstream facilities such as a smelter expected to start operating before the end of the year. The mine aims to produce 30,000 metric tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent in 2026 and, once fully operational, process five million tonnes of ore annually to produce about one million tonnes of spodumene concentrate. |
