Description

Description

In July 2013, Colombian company Interconexion Electrica (ISA), through its subsidiary Consorcio Supervisor Transmantaro (CST), was awarded the contract to design, finance, construct, operate and maintain Mantaro-Marcona-Socabaya-Montalvo (MAMO) 920-km transmission line at the Huancavelica, Ica, Arequipa and Moquegua districts (500kv). Besides CST, two other bidders took part in the process: ASA Iberoamerica S.A and Consorcio Redes Energeticas Nacionais. The bidding criteria was the lowest annual revenue. The sponsor signed a 30-year concession contract with the Peruvian Energy and Mines Ministry in September 2013. The sponsor committed to invest US$ 447 million in the project. Financial closure took place in March 2015 when a US$ 250 million credit agreement was arranged by Banco de Crédito del Perú to finance five CST projects in the country, including the Mantaro-Marcona-Socabaya-Montalvo transmission line. Environmental clearance was granted in November 2015. Construction works commenced in the same month, and operations were expected to commence in 2017. As of August 2016, 75% of the construction works had been concluded.
