Description

Description

The Manurewa Cycle Connection is about to establish a safe cycling connection along Roscommon Road and Mahia Road, which has been prioritised in the CAM-PBC (and funded by Auckland Council’s CATR package). The potential to make more efficient use of the road corridor and provide for safe cycling facilities by repurposing the available road space (i.e. on-street car parking, medians and/or narrowing general traffic lanes where possible). Using space more efficiently within the existing kerb lines avoids the need for costly work to move kerbs or purchase property , meaning the project can deliver mid-block sections at a relatively low cost per kilometre. Investigation will cover the full 8km connection along the length of Roscommon Road and Mahia Road, however the CATR funding only covers Design and Construction of the 5km section south of Browns Road. Design and Construction of the remaining 3km will be funded through AT’s Ongoing Cycling Programme.
