Marathon Public Library Expansion and Renovation

completed

The project involved designing and building a new public library in Marathon, Texas, by Dallas architect Dan Shipley. It expanded the original 1955 library by about 500% and included restoration of a neighboring one-room adobe schoolhouse from 1888 for use as a museum. The building features modern architecture that respects and elevates its environment, with bespoke detailing and materials native to West Texas. The project was managed directly by the architect to ensure quality and budget control, involving local tradesmen and imported craftsmen.
