The Mareterra district in Monaco is a new neighborhood featuring apartments built over the Mediterranean Sea. It includes two residential apartment blocks, 10 villas, four townhouses, commercial and public spaces, and a marina. The development incorporates eco-friendly features such as solar panels providing 40% of energy needs, 200 electric vehicle charging stations, and 800 trees. The apartments are built on 10,000-ton, 26-meter-high Jarlan chambers designed to act as breakwaters to protect against extreme weather and rising sea levels. The project also includes environmental considerations like habitat grooves for marine life and the transplantation of protected seagrass.
