It is part of a larger 273-mile, 765 kV transmission line known as the North Rochester-Columbia line. The project aims to boost regional energy reliability and capacity, replacing outdated technology and supporting economic growth in the Upper Midwest. The line will cross six counties in Minnesota and Wisconsin, including Vernon and Crawford counties in Wisconsin. The project is currently in the planning and permitting phase, with an anticipated in-service date of 2034 and a route application expected to be filed in 2026. |
