Rio Tinto will contribute up to $900 million to the project, acquiring a 49.99 percent stake, while Codelco retains control of the remaining share. The deal includes an initial investment of $350 million at closing, expected in the first quarter of 2026, followed by $500 million upon final investment decision, and $50 million if commercial production is reached by the end of 2030. The project has yet to be mined and is known for one of the highest lithium brine concentrations globally. |
