Description
Description | The objective of the present application is to complete the financing to cover the development needs of the audiovisual works included in the mini-slate in order to succeed in the development and be able to take the projects to the production stage. The number of people involved in the development of the audiovisual projects included in the slate project is around thirty and include the creative team, the production team, as well as location scouters, etc. The present slate consists of two projects and Marina Films (Czech Republic) is the main producer in all of them: 1) WELFA(I)RE: An impact feature documentary that focuses on life conditions of various groups of people affected by the cost-of-living crisis who find themselves dependant on state welfare from the point of view of a woman social worker. The film is the third feature documentary by Czech filmmaker Adela Komrzy. The project co-production structure: Czech Republic-Slovakia-Belgium. Language: Czech. Shooting country: Czech Republic. 2) DANCING BEARS: Comedic fiction feature film based on international best-seller book by Polish writer Witold Szablowski. For centuries, Bulgaria was home to bear handlers who would travel the country with trained bears and entertain the local people. After Bulgaria joined the EU, the practice was outlawed, and the bears were transported to a reservation, where they live in catered conditions designed to simulate freedom. This film is conceived as a tragic comedy showing how the bears and their former handlers have adapted to their newfound freedom. The film is directed by acclaimed Slovak filmmaker Peter Kerekes. The project co-production structure: Czech Republic-Slovakia-Bulgaria-Poland. Language: Bulgarian. Shooting country: Bulgaria. |
