Submission for slate funding CREATIVE EUROPE: MEDIA 2021 Based in the Czech Republic, Marlene Film Production was formed in 2013 by Sarka Cimbalova to produce high end feature films and tv series. Since then, the company has produced three films, with box office of over 10 million viewers, received 33 international nominations and received 9 awards. Looking forward, the landscape for the European independent sector is challenging. In order to achieve our objectives, we wish to increase the reach of our activities through the creation of a network of established collaborators and partners, both creative and financial, in Europe. Our objective is to build on this initial success and expand our capacity to produce 2-3 high end tv series and films per year, thus creating a sustainable and profitable European audiovisual company. Our slate includes a children’s animated feature film, a neo-noir thriller, a supernatural Black Mirror style TV series, a high end mini series and a genre-busting horror film. The talent range from the debut feature film animator to a film directing legend. We are collaborating with Georgians, Irish, Poles, Canadians as well as more established German companies. Our selection of genres, partners and talent is innovative and mobile and inter-national and diverse. However, all of our projects have one element in common: They will be all be directed by women.
