Description
Description | The project concerns the final studies for two multimodal passenger hubs in Marseille: Marseille Saint-Charles and Marseille Saint-André, part of the global project ‘Project for Phases 1 & 2 of the Provence Cote d’Azur New Line’. The project follows on from the detailed studies carried out under projects CEF 21-FR-TG-LNPCA-PH1-Hubs and CEF 23-FR- TG-Marseille – Hub. Marseille Saint-Charles (MSC) is the main hub in Marseille and offers international, European, national and regional connections via the various transport modes: international rail services, easy access to Marseille Provence Airport, metro station, bus station and motorway in easy reach. The aim is to extend the area of the hub in order to: - to relieve congestion in the existing rail station and meet the expected increase by 2050, - to make the interchange hub open on all sides with high and efficient accessibility for all passengers and improved integration in the urban surroundings, to ensure best practices in term of usage of environmentally friendly and innovative solutions for the design of the interchange hub. The final studies will concern the following: - site clearance, - platforms and passenger information facilities for traffic from and to Aubagne, Toulon and Nice (East Block) - the new underground corridor between the extension to the rail station and the existing metro station, - the new Crimée intermodal corridor that will ensure the intercity link and access passageway to the train platforms. The second location is at Marseille Saint-André. The aim of the new hub is to: - offer direct railway links with the Marseille Saint-Charles and towards Marseille Provence Airport, - make Marseille Saint Charles station and national links more easily accessible from districts in the northern part of Marseille, - provide smooth connections between different transport modes such as trains, trams, cars, buses and active modes. The final studies for both hubs cover the final design and the preparation of the tender documentation for works foreseen to start in 2027. |
