Description

Description

AES Corporation (51.00%), Electricity Generating Public Co (41.00%), International Finance Corporation (8.00%) The 660MW Masinloc coal-fired power plant is located on a 137 hectare lot in the Mango Capital town of Masinloc, province of Zambales, about 250KM northwest of Manila. The plant began operating in 1998. The expansion will double the capacity of the Masinloc I coal-fired power plant. The proceeds are used to double the size of AES' 660MW Masinloc I coal-fired power plant, which it acquired through privatization in 2008. AES has already increased Masinloc's capacity from 450MW to 630MW and improved availability from 50 per cent to 74 per cent, and increased net production by 62 per cent since buying the plant. AES also improved the plant's environmental performance, lowering emissions levels so that they are in compliance with World Bank standards. Masinloc II would use the existing infrastructure, transmission interconnection and AES' operating experience in the Philippines.
