Masset - Water Treatment Plant Upgrades

The project will increase the quality of water treatment by completing an upgrade to the water treatment plant that supplies potable water to the villages of Masset and Old Masset on Haida Gwaii. The upgrades will extend the life of the plant up to an estimated 35 years by optimizing the chemical dosing in the system. The improvements will ensure that the treated water remains within the Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality. The project works include: - replacement and upgrades to the water treatment plant including chemical systems, piping, mixing tanks and metering pumps; - replacement of electrical systems and controls, mechanical works including ventilation; - installation of backup generator; - analytical equipment; - installation of a secondary containment system for liquid chemicals; and, - related works.
