The Technical University of Deggendorf and the South Bohemian University of Budweis are planning a joint cross-border master’s programme “Artificial Intelligence and Data Science”, which is taught in English. The programme will cover the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Data Mining and thus provide knowledge that is highly sought after in regional economies. The aim of the project is to provide necessary funding for this course of study so that it can be planned, organised, implemented and accredited. In addition, it will also implement a marketing campaign to promote this study before the pilot year and in its course with the students and other partners.Another part of the project is also the establishment of a deep learning laboratory for research and teaching in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning. The cooperative course with a double master’s degree covers compulsory semesters at both universities and thus consciously promotes intercultural and linguistic competences (German for Czechs, Czech for German). Professionally, the degree program is at the height of the time and serves up-to-date topics such as machine learning, autonomous intelligent systems and the automatic processing of big data. Current examples of these technologies include autonomous driving, speech recognition or image editing. The project thus makes a unique and sustainable contribution to the long-term development of companies with cutting-edge technologies in the region. In addition to the scientific content, this course will develop and use modern teaching methods (e.g. virtual classroom, support through e-learning, just-in-time teaching). Together with the two partner universities, the regional companies are involved in the planning and implementation of the Master’s programme in order to ensure that their needs and interests are addressed by the programme. The objectives are: — The implementation of a cross-border master’s programme in Applied Computer Science (Applied Computer Science) in the field of “Artificial Intelligence and Data Science”, — compulsory semester abroad at the partner university, — accredited degree program with a double master’s degree, — implemented with state-of-the-art teaching methods. — Creation of a qualification recognised across borders. — Increase the numbers of graduates for highly qualified professional fields. — Increase in the proportion of women in the STEM sector. — Reduction of intercultural and linguistic barriers in the border region. — Networking of schools, universities, companies and students in the region.
