Cyber-attacks are projected to cost $10.5 trillion 2025, rising to $23.82 trillion by 2027, posing severe risks to economic stability and digital security. In 2022, the EU Cybersecurity Skills Academy reports a 500,000-person workforce shortage, whereas 883,000 professionals were needed, while 45% of companies struggle to hire qualified experts. Built on 19 years of collaboration between partner universities, CYBERSURE directly addresses this gap by establishing a two-year Master’s Programme in Cybersecurity and Assurance (120 ECTS) to train the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. The objective of CYBERSURE is to provide students with advanced technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, industry experience and soft skills to meet Europe’s evolving cybersecurity needs. This will be achieved through a joint degree from seven leading European universities, combining multidisciplinary education, hands-on training, and strong industry collaboration (i.e. 20 industry/organizations). In the first year, students study at NTNU, building expertise in cybersecurity assurance, cryptography, network security, and regulatory compliance while gaining hands-on experience at the Norwegian Cyber Range. The second year offers six specialization tracks at partner universities (Aalto, DTU, UT,EURECOM,KTH and TU Graz), covering distributed systems security, software assurance, cryptography, big data security, networks & system security, and security engineering. Aligned with EU priorities, CYBERSURE supports the Cybersecurity Skills Academy, Cybersecurity Competence Centre, and Digital Europe Programme, promoting skilling, upskilling, and reskilling. By bridging academia, research, and industry, CYBERSURE enhances employability, innovation, and digital resilience, ensuring Europe remains a global leader in cybersecurity.
