"This project involves the development of the Matarani Solar Plant in the Arequipa region of Peru, with a planned generation capacity of 97 MWp. The initiative is sponsored by Yinson Renewables, a Malaysia-based independent power producer (IPP). The project is supported by a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA). The plant is projected to generate approximately 260,000 MWh annually, helping to significantly reduce CO2 emissions while meeting the electricity needs of around 62,000 Peruvian households. The total project cost for this initiative is $91 million, of which $59m was secured through a loan provided by IDB Invest and Natixis.
