Matrix Energia's BESS system

This project involves the installation of large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across Brazil by Matrix Energia through its subsidiary Get Comercializadora. Matrix Energia signed partnerhisp with Huawei Digital power and will expand its planned capacity from 250 MWh to 750 MWh by 2027. The total project cost is $288m (BRL 1.6bn). To support the project, Matrix Energia has successfully issued $17.95 (R$100) million in green bonds, marking Brazil’s first green bond issuance dedicated to battery energy storage. The six-year bond issuance was led by Caixa Econômica Federal (CAIXA). The BESS solution aligns with global climate goals, including the Paris Agreement and the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI) taxonomy, and contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
