Description
Description | The present emergency humanitarian aid operation for flood victims in the city of Nouakchott complements the efforts of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to cope with the consequences of the floods caused by the torrential rains of the months of August-September 2013 and help the populations still affected. It also aims to support the efforts of the authorities to prevent new disasters or at least to mitigate their effects on the population, as wintering rains regularly cause floods in Mauritania and cause significant human and material damage. The proposed contribution of the Bank is US $ 820,000 in the form of a grant from the Special Relief Fund (SSF). The donation will provide a short-term response to the consequences of recent floods, including the provision of food products, the provision of relief materials and equipment, and other one-time support from partners. The activities subject to the financing of this grant cover the acquisition of a set of equipment that will provide the National Office of Sanitation with adapted logistics that will equip the ten (10) Operational Units that will be installed at the level of nine (09) districts of the city of Nouakchott and the Technical Department of the Urban Community of Nouakchott. The operation must be implemented as soon as possible and its total duration should not exceed six (6) months from the date of signature of the grant agreement letter. |
