The objectives of the Skills Development Support Project for Mauritania are to improve the quality, efficiency of training institutions and create an enabling environment for a more market-driven Technical and Vocational Education Training System (TVET). There are two components to the project. The first component of the project is strengthening and diversifying TVET. This component will improve the quality, effectiveness and relevance of the training provided in eligible TVET institutions beneficiaries, and increase apprenticeship and short-term training programs. The second component of the project is improving the institutional environment of TVET. This component will enhance the capacity of the Ministry of Employment Vocational Training and New Technologies (MDEFPNT) to create a more demand-driven TVET system, and strengthen the capacity of the National Institute for the Promotion of Vocational and Technical Training (INAP-FTP) to support the TVET system.
