Description | This Program is designed to support the newly adopted third generation education sector development program (Programme National de Developpement du Secteur Éducatif, PNDSE3). It aims to improve the quality of basic education, expand access to secondary education for adolescent girls, and enhance the governance of the education system. The Program consists of three key results areas:Results Area 1: Improving the quality of basic education through: (i) expanding access to quality early childhood education: this sub-area focuses on increasing the availability and quality of pre-primary education to ensure that young children benefit from a strong head start in life with a robust educational foundation and (ii) enhancing teacher effectiveness in basic education: this sub-area aims to improve the qualifications and effectiveness of teachers through targeted professional development that leverage digital tools and availability of quality pedagogical resources. Results Area 2: Expanding access to secondary education for adolescent girls through: (i) increasing girls’ access and retention in secondary schools: this sub-area addresses key barriers to girls' education while promoting their enrollment, retention, and completion of secondary education and (ii) enhancing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education in secondary schools: this sub-area aims to improve the quality and accessibility of STEM education for girls, encouraging their participation and success in these critical fields while leapfrogging digital development.Results Area 3: Enhancing the governance of the education system through: (i) strengthening the education management information system (EMIS) for informed decision making in education, (ii) improving the learning assessment evaluation system, and (iii) reinforcing community participation in education. The Program will have a technical assistance component for capacity building and institutional development: this will allow to ensuring effective implementation of the Program and sustainability of the program's interventions. By leveraging the PforR financing instrument, the Program will directly support the objectives of PNDSE3, ensuring that the educational sector's development goals are achieved through results-oriented interventions. |
