The drama series ‘Máxima’ tells the fascinating life story of the Dutch Queen Máxima. What makes the series unique compared to other royal drama series, is that the story is told from Máxima's POV, highlighting her determination and ambition, as well as her struggle to balance the loyalty to her family and her own identity. Dutch production company Millstreet Films produces high quality films and drama series from a contemporary female perspective for a broad audience, with a strong female lead or female film makers. Drama series nowadays play a crucial role in strengthening values in society. ‘If you can see it, you can be it’. Having strong female role models in our productions is important to us and we aim to have women fill top positions on our sets at least as often as men. For the purpose of the production of ‘Máxima’, we created a special purpose company named North End BV. North End is 100% owned by Millstreet films. ‘Máxima’ is a high-end international project with shooting locations in The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Greece and beyond. A diverse background is also reflected in the cast and crew. We have put together a great project team with Belgium co-producer FBO and German co-producer Beta Film, who will handle international sales as well. ‘Máxima’ is commissioned in the Netherlands by RTL’s SVOD platform Videoland and already sold to 73+ territories. With the support of Creative Europe TV & Online, we have produced seasons 1 and 2 (the last being in post). Based on the international success, we decided together with our partners to also apply for TV & Online funding for this final instalment.
