maze pictures will lead the development of the presented slate in all creative and financial matters, involving inhouse staff but also working in close collaboration with creative talents and co-production/-development partners early on. maze’s slate focusses on projects with a compelling European co-production scope, aiming to develop scripts, package talents and finance the productions until greenlight. Offering great variety, our 2021 slate comprises 3 projects: bestseller novel based young adult TV series ALEA AQUARIUS, the new talent involved feature comedy KOSMOS and the high end TV crime procedural SKELETON COAST. maze is pursuing with this slate its clear vision of international, medium to high budget productions, independently created and financed out of Europe by investing in the development of unique ideas, strong IP, commercial and audience attracting genres and the discovery of new talents. This slate allows maze to extend its network of international partners (e.g Avrotros, MNet) and collaborate with renowned agencies like WME, CAA, Players. It builds on the close relationships established in the past 6 years with several partners on the creative (e.g. Maria von Heland, Michał Marczak) and financing level from Germany (ZDF, ZDFE, NDR) and all over Europe and beyond: France (Incognita), Poland (Match&Spark), Netherlands (Phanta Vision), Belgium (Dramadama), UK (Pulse) or South Africa (Infinity Films). Apart from our inhouse staff, there are almost 30 partners ranging from creative talents to financing and distribution partners involved in this current slate. All strategies presented are set up in collaboration among these partners. This 2021 slate will help maze to secure its steady inhouse development structure, to balance necessary development risks, to generate reasonable growth and consolidation of the company’s position in a very competitive independent producers market to make a successful contribution to European cinema and television.
