Description

Description

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking statements of qualifications from contractors interested in carrying out the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas Navigation System project. Firms must submit their qualifications through the SAM.gov portal. The project entails construction of a new weir opening at the site of the Historic Closure Structure in Tichnor. The project area is located within levees near the confluences of the White, Arkansas, and Mississippi rivers. The project entails construction of a hydraulic weir, with a crest elevation of 145 ft and a crest length of 1,000 ft. In addition, a new concrete access road along the top of the weir will be built, as well as culvert replacement along Benzal Road. Long term inundation of the work area is likely, and prospective contractors must be able to continue working when the work area is flooded. An RFP for design-build firms is likely to be issued in the spring of 2022.
