McClellanville Sand Mine Project

proposed

Local conservation groups have appealed a decision allowing a proposed sand mining project to proceed in Charleston County, South Carolina. The appeal challenges the county zoning department's exemption of the mining operation from regulations, as the land is zoned Agricultural Preservation. The groups are pushing for stricter requirements and public input before the project advances, citing concerns about environmental impact, health, and community safety.
