Description | The McMillan Dam Removal project involves the removal of the McMillan Dam located just west of Lawrence Road in Volinia Township, Marcellus. The project aims to reduce or eliminate the risk of dam failure, comply with regulatory requirements, and protect public and environmental health. The dam has inadequate spillway capacity and embankment damage which could result in failure. The removal will restore natural stream flow, improve hydraulic conveyance, enhance aquatic and terrestrial habitats, and reduce risks associated with dam failure, sediment buildup, and poor water quality. The Finch Lake control structure will be reconstructed to meet state safety requirements. |
