Description
Description | Meadow Lake Provincial Park’s (MLPP) currently treats its sewage from Murray Doell and Sandy Beach campgrounds using a twin-cell facultative lagoon system. The lagoon has been cited by Water Security Agency as requiring upgrades to comply with regulatory requirements and to continue to be permitted to operate. The project planning stage will include assessment of the sewage disposal and treatment needs of Murray Doell, Sandy Beach, and surrounding satellite campgrounds, identification of upgrade options, and will confirm the final approach for lagoon improvements. A detailed engineered design and tender documents will be prepared to meet applicable capacity and regulatory requirements. The project scope is expected to include earthwork rehabilitation and expansion of the existing primary and secondary cells, installation of a new HDPE liner as well as replacement of the transfer structure, dump station, and fencing. Sampling wells will be established to allow for required ongoing testing of groundwater in the vicinity of the sewage lagoon. Required consultations will occur and regulatory approvals will be obtained for all work associated with this project. The project will meet all requirements stipulated by the Water Security Agency and thus will meet both provincial and federal wastewater effluent regulations. The ministry would like to commence with design in 2021-22 and all construction work will be publicly tendered (ie: not sole-sourced). |
