Description

Description

The Meadow Lake Tribal Council Bioenergy Project (the Project) is a first of its kind green energy bioenergy plant in Saskatchewan. The plant combines environmental improvement with thermal efficiency and directly improves the economic outcomes for the nine member-First Nations. The objective of the Project is to generate carbon-neutral green power using sawmill biomass residuals. The Project consists of installation of a bioenergy power plant (a biomass-based combined heat and power (CHP) cogeneration system) at the Meadow Lake Tribal Council’s NorSask sawmill site in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. The installation will involve an air-cooled refractory-lined reciprocating grate furnace with thermal oil heat exchangers, an 8.0 MW gross Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) turbo-generator, 6.6 MW net of station service (pumps, compressors, etc.), and all associated fuel handling and environmental emission systems.
