Description

Description

The Greener Deal project addresses the critical need for meaningful worker participation in the implementation of the European Green Deal (EGD), ensuring employees have a voice in decisions that impact their working conditions, job security, and rights. As industries undergo significant transformations to meet the EU’s climate neutrality targets, changes in manufacturing processes, workplace structures, and employment policies pose challenges for both workers and employers. Despite existing legal frameworks supporting employee consultation, many workers remain excluded from decision-making processes. To bridge this gap, the Greener Deal project strengthens mechanisms for worker involvement, equipping employees and employers with knowledge, tools, and structured dialogue platforms to improve participation in EGD-related workplace transitions. The project follows a full-cycle implementation approach, integrating research, capacity-building, and policy recommendations. Key outputs include the final publication “Greener Deal - Meaningful Employee Participation in European Industries for EGD Implementation”, the “Toolkit for Better Employee Participation in EGD Implementation”, and the Greener Europe Self-Learning online tool (OER). Additionally, the project implements interactive workshops, ToT programs, an international roundtable, townhall meetings, and a final conference. By promoting worker upskilling, and the integration of best practices into national and EU-level policymaking, the project ensures a just and inclusive transition. Implemented in Poland, Portugal, Bulgaria, Spain, and North Macedonia, the Greener Deal project supports the long-term engagement of social partners, reinforcing the role of employees in shaping the green economy and fostering industrial sustainability.
