Description

The Media & Learning Association (MLA) is an international, not-for-profit membership association set up in 2012 to promote and stimulate the use of media as a way to enhance innovation and creativity in teaching and learning. MLA currently has 63 organisational, sponsoring and networking members from 17 different countries. Members include national and regional agencies charged with the promotion of innovation, universities, ministries, educational support services and networks as well as specialised units supporting digital & media literacy. Current MLA activities include organising online and face-to-face conferences, online workshops and seminars to increase knowledge and share experience on specific topics, a popular annual awards scheme recognising best use of media to support teaching and learning and support and participation in specific projects aimed at developing new approaches, expertise and resources. MLA runs a communications service with a popular website, well viewed newsletter and active social media channels to support its members and the wider community of interest. This grant submission is made is to allow us to expend, deepen and consolidate the work we are doing with the following objectives: • Create Special Interest Groups (SIGs) within our membership on topics including teacher education in digital and media literacy, XR in Higher Education, best use of media tools and services, podcasting and 360°recording • Extend membership and engagement in member states, particularly in southern and eastern Europe • Organise online webinars in the form of workshops and seminars • Broaden participation in the MEDEA awards • Organise two separate European conferences on teacher education in digital & media literacy and media supported learning in higher education. • Extend communications and dissemination service • Facilitate members in the creation of inter-disciplinary projects • Set up a mechanism to support staff exchange & internship
