The Medicine Hat Transit (MHT) Technology Upgrades Project (the Project) includes upgrades to the MHT’s electronic fare collection and computer aided dispatch systems. The integrated transit management and passenger information system allows for service adjustments to be automatically updated in customers’ journey planning apps and passenger information displays. This is important in supporting social distancing measures by avoiding crowds gathering at major transit hubs. This system also provides contactless fare paying, mobile ticketing, and the use of smartcards and real time bus information increasing performance and operational efficiency. The upgrade to this software will also give MHT leading-edge capabilities and analytics.
