The Mediterranean film festival Split continuously demonstrates itself as one of the most active and attractive cultural events, whereas its programming and activities, along with a dedicated and passionate year-long traveling cinema network Kino Mediteran, its video on demand platform KMOD, stable distribution branch and other projects extensively contribute to shaping up and developing a strong and stable audience for independent films, not only in the Dalmatian Region, but stretching its impact to Croatia and even beyond its borders through the touristic season. It has been founded with the aim to contribute to the establishment and development of a decent and diverse society, enhancing its impact through the promotion of film culture and art, encouraging audiovisual creativity through the popularisation of media and new technologies, through continuous promotion of European films, that are having impact not only on the education and growth of audiences, but also opening up societies to delicate topics that are of a high importance nowadays. Understanding and underlining the need and importance of a more systematic approach to audience development, we have re-shaped our Industry programme and are kicking off with a clear goal towards mutual growth and creation, by fostering education through entertainment and cross-sectoral activities, enhancing collaboration between the Mediterranean and other European countries and cherishing its vivid cultural identities and diversities. We are deliberately thinking through all our activities and its extensions to be in alliance with our main goals and objectives, always looking for the perfect approach and ways to impact our society, especially our youth, by nourishing, communicating and addressing today’s most important topics and issues, such as e.g. gender equality, inclusion and environmental issues through our activities and examples during our events.
