Description | The Medog Dam is the world's largest hydropower project being constructed on the Yarlung Tsangpo river in Medog County, Tibet. It consists of five cascade hydropower stations with a combined annual electricity generation capacity of around 300 billion kWh, more than three times the output of China's Three Gorges Dam. The project is located near the Great Bend of the river, close to the India-China border, and is expected to have significant strategic, ecological, and seismic implications. |
