Description | The Meerut Metro and Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS), also named Namo Bharat, operate on the same 23 km track from Meerut South to Modipuram in Uttar Pradesh. The integration includes scheduling and signalling systems using a hybrid Level 3 signalling system based on the European Train Control System (ETCS) and LTE radio technology. This is the first global deployment combining ETCS standard, advanced interlocking systems, Platform Screen Doors, and Automatic Train Operation over LTE radio. The project aims to enhance train frequency, reduce wait times, and boost capacity by enabling more trains to pass through stations seamlessly and safely. |
