Meeting of Twin Cities of Tiszaujvaros

The Municipality of the City of Tiszaújváros has been maintaining twinning relationships since 1992. On the planned twinning meeting between 19-21 August in 2022 the Municipality of Tiszaújváros as an organizer and its twin cities: Rimaszombat, Swietochlowice, Zawiercie District, Miercurea Ciuc, Beregszasz as invited guests will participate the event. With the help of professionals, NGOs and citizens from the twin cities and Tiszaújváros, we want to create another opportunity to discover the cultural diversity of the European Union, making citizens aware that European values and European cultural heritage are the basis of a common future. Furthermore, the cooperation between twinned municipalities can serve as a good basis for sharing and disseminating good practices in each municipality to curb the Covid19 pandemic, which contributes to supporting good local governance and ensuring the active participation of local communities and citizens at local level. During the meeting, we organize a workshop on curbing the Covid19 pandemic, and an expert’s meeting and an exhibition of photos of civic participation during and after the pandemic. We want to provide a long-term sustainable cooperation between Europeans, especially twinned towns, for citizens and cultural groups from participating municipalities to strengthen a peaceful relations and mutual understanding and friendship.The “Town City Picnic” and “Friends' Evening” implemented during the program will serve to present European cultural diversity and strengthen European identity based on culture, thus indirectly providing insight into the traditions, history, diversity and future development opportunities of Europe and our twin cities. As a result of the current project, we expect the further development of our twinning co-operations, the establishment and implementation of new cross-border co-operations, primarily in connection with youth, cultural and community activities.
