Description

Description

This project will increase safety, capacity and accessibility of the Meewasin Trail in key locations identified in the Meewasin Trail Study that identified priority areas for upgrade or expansion. This project will provide upgrades to the Meewasin Trail which has seen more than double the usage in some areas since the pandemic. Main Components: Kinsmen Riverfront Project Description - An upgrade to the current trail for capacity and accessibility, benches, picnic tables, signage and other amenities, river access and secondary trail to the north. This work includes demolition of existing trail, new construction and strategic revegetation of suitable areas. Downtown Core (Kiwanis South) - An upgrade of the current trail for capacity, accessibility and viewpoints through the downtown core from the iconic Bessborough Hotel south to the Broadway Bridge. Southwest - A conversion of the current decommissioned vehicle roadway into a trail by narrowing and revegetating the area. New amenities, bench lookouts over the river and interpretive signage are planned. River Heights - A new trail in the north end of Saskatoon to address a section that currently has no trail.
