Meghalaya EV-Only Auto Fleet Transition

The Meghalaya state government is preparing a roadmap to phase out conventional auto-rickshaws and transition to electric vehicles (EVs) to make public transportation cleaner and more sustainable ahead of the National Games in 2027. The government plans to consult with auto-rickshaw associations to facilitate the exchange of fuel-based autos for electric ones and offer financial assistance to owners willing to adopt the scheme. This initiative is part of a larger vision to develop Tura into a greener and more organized urban center through infrastructure upgrades and community-driven initiatives.
