Meghalaya Public Parking Subsidy Scheme

The Meghalaya government has announced a scheme under the Meghalaya Parking Policy for Urban Areas, 2025, to encourage the general public to build public parking spaces for cars with government subsidies. The scheme supports the development of surface-level, stacked, and automated parking facilities to decongest roads in Shillong, the state capital. Grants include Rs 1 lakh for parking spaces accommodating at least ten cars and a 75% subsidy on the detailed project report cost or Rs 5 lakh for automated one-car parking spaces. The scheme is open to private landowners, traditional bodies, NGOs, and cooperative societies, with selected applicants responsible for construction, operation, and maintenance of the parking facilities.
